Connemara by artist Daniel O'Sullivan is an original artwork inspired by great holidays in Ireland’s rugged west. Connemara is an area of Ireland where the gaelic language is still spoken to this day. A quiet day in a small Connemara town might see only a farmer walking his bicycle, a dog trying to make sense of that strange activity and the odd passerby. Thatched roof cottages with weathered stone walls, set against emerald coloured hills and sunny skies provide a glimpse of what it was like to live in Ireland a long time ago.
Dan’s experiences growing up in the Emerald Isle provide hazy memories for a dreamlike accounting of how this beautiful land looked not so long ago. Indeed, some parts of Ireland still retain this mystical, mythical character to this day. There are a total of fourteen paintings in the series and each one represents an actual experience of Danny's travels through Ireland as a child and as a young adult.
