Item Description

Bid on this creative and inspiring print from the young artists of RAW Art Works!  Originally, there were several prints of On a Journey, but when their basement flooded, they lost almost all of the remaining prints, leaving this print to be considered a rarity.

On a Journey was created by a group of young artists at RAW Art Works in Lynn, who were asked to consider what being on a journey is all about. From their responses during group discussions and reflective writing, a piece was written in a collective voice of the artists. They drew bicycles and carved them from linoleum blocks. The bicycles and the written piece (which had been typeset) were printed by the artists.

About RAW Art Works Printshop:

In 2015. the R.A.D. Printshop opened at RAW, thanks to a collaboration with a very generous donor. The shop is outfitted with Vandercook presses, as well as handset wood and metal type. This distinctive studio at RAW gives multiple groups of children and teens the opportunity to use the letterpress and printmaking process as a platform to explore the impact of words, and to experience the process of amplifying their own and others’ voices through the publication process. Youth working in this studio write, revise, brainstorm, and collaborate. They learn to set type, create linocuts, run prints, cut prints, and bind selected projects.
