Reiki healing is a hands-on energy healing art. It was originated in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who had a life-changing experience of light and energy that he recognized as reiki--Universal Energy. He developed a system of practices that enabled others to become effective healers. In a reiki healing session, the practitioner, trained to access and serve as a channel for the Reiki, places her hands on or just above the client’s body in order to activate healing energy within receptive points on the body. The practitioner’s hands move progressively with a passive touch through positions on the body, remaining in each position for three to five minutes. As a harmonic flow of energy is strengthened, within the client and practitioner, healing occurs through the return of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance.

About Dominique Bousquet 

I was born in Toulouse, France. After a 20-year-long dance career that took me from Paris to Europe and all the way to Asia, I settled in New York City, where to further develop my knowledge of the body, I dove into the study of therapeutic massage at the Swedish Institute. I became a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist in February of 2008. At this time my work integrates Swedish, myofascial release, active release technique, Reiki, as well as Reflexology, in which I hold a National Board Certification.I also received extensive training in oncology massage, including Massage for the Cancer Patient level I and II through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Hospital-Based Massage Therapy for Seriously Ill Patients through Mount Sinai’sHertzberg Palliative Care Institute.I maintain a private practice specializing in safe massage for people diagnosed with cancer during all phases of treatment, into survivorship and end of life, and I am part of the massage therapy team at the Dubin Breast Center and the Ruttenberg Treatment Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.

 I am also a member of the Society For Oncology Massage and the American Massage Therapy Association.

Where:  My office is located in the Lower East Side in Manhattan, and I do house calls in Manhattan if you have a massage table.
