Item Description

"After Hurricane Katrina tore through New Orleans in 2005, "Cooking Up a Storm" was published to tell the story—recipe by recipe—of one of the great food cities of the world and the determination of its citizens to preserve and safeguard their culinary legacy. Ten years later, the city is back in business and this hardcover edition of the original cookbook is here to celebrate the community's rebirth by reminding us of the great recipes that belong only to the city of New Orleans, but are beloved by us all." Free shipping!

"The ultimate collection of delicious New Orleans style recipes all in one amazing cookbook!" "Review by Adam B. Bugay on Jan 22, 2019"

"There is a good reason this cookbook has a 5 star review overall, even with 170 review total, it' the complete package and it's full of flavor filled recipes throughout the New Orleans area.

When Hurricane Katrina came through in 2005, it wreaked havoc on the city of New Orelans, it nearly wiped out everything that makes New Orlean what it is, a culture melting pot. “Cooking Up a Storm” edited by Marcelle Bienvenu and Judy Walker is the compiled efforts of local chefs and amateur cooks to restore the lost recipes. On Oct. 27, 2005, The Times-Picayune of New Orleans started a column based on a reader’s request. The column would work as a recipe exchange where readers could write in asking for a lost recipe or just one of their favorites and then someone would answer with the recipe. This turned out to be a huge success and helped to restore the food culture of a city. This book includes 225 recipes from those columns. As an outsider, it is a fantastic look into the New Orleans food world. I've provided a picture of the Table of Content so you know what all you can expect from this cookbook, I have made a few recipe so far and they did not disappoint. I can't wait to try out many more, I highly recommend adding this stellar southern cajun/creole style cookbook to your collection, it's probably my favorite cookbook right now."

Reviews:

"Wife loves the cookbook. Being from an area that was decimated by hurricane Katrina and having lost everything we own, it was nice to get back lots of recipes that she lost and also some new ones. My wife loves to cook and she was very happy with the book."

"Loved this Cookbook. I lost all of my Times Picayune recipes and was delighted to find this. Brings back lots of memories and I am excited to find some of my all time favorites."

"Wonderful, easy to follow, classic New Orleans recipes. My son had this cookbook and made a few dishes from it when I was visiting him. I liked it so much, I bought my own copy. I refer to it often. I highly recommend it for your cookbook library. AA+"
