Item Description
This framed poster is from our infamous KXCI House Rockin' series at El Casino Ballroom. In 1988 we presented this All-Star Blues Revue which was the largest blues show in Tucson history. Chicago blues legends Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Luther Tucker, and Jimmy Rogers shared the stage with Texas greats Kim Wilson, Angela Strehli, and Denny Freeman. All acts were backed up by the Muddy Waters alumni of Pinetop Perkins on piano and rhythm section of Willie "Big-Eyed" Smith on drums and Calvin Jones on bass. Opening the show was a young hotshot guitarist from Louisiana named Chris Thomas. He would go on to gain fame as Chris Thomas King, starring in the block buster movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou as the itinerant bluesman Tommy Johnson. This sold out All-Star Blues Revue kept people dancing at El Casino for over five hours, and now the memories from this historic night will live on forever with this rare framed poster.
