The Art Box is like having a museum in a box, except its way wittier. This collection is truly creative, as it contains everyday objects that have been transformed into extraordinary pieces of art. It’s a fantastic match for visual thinkers, creative minds who don’t always follow convention, art lovers and the socially conscious. The gifts are both enjoyable and useful. The products are from France, and the Netherlands and depict modern adaptations of priceless European works of art from the Louvre, Van Gogh Museum, and the Dutch National Museum (Rijksmuseum).
It includes:
- Porcelain mug was inspired by Rembrandt’s wedding painting of Marten & Oopjen and the beautiful lace details of their clothing. Made in the Netherlands by Design x Ambacht; a project to help people with poor job prospects gain skills. Dutch Design!
- The origami inspired paper vase is a cover to be placed around a small vase or bottle. It’s triangle folds allow you to shape it as desired. It depicts a still life of flowers, painted by Abraham Mignon and is 7 inches tall. Handcrafted in Mumbai as part of a project to help improve the lives of impoverished people.
- Rijkswachters Robots are made from shipping crates that once protected works of art from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Each robot comes with a unique serial number that can be traced back to the artwork it once held.
- Le Chocolat Des Francais are certified organic chocolate bars made in France. They depict a modern twist of classic French imagery; for this box a chocolate loving Mona Lisa is the obvious choice. Classic milk chocolate and salted caramel flavoured. Made in France.
- La Note Parisienne scented candles capture the unique scent of a particular arrondissement (neighborhood) of the French capital. This box has the candle for the 1st arrondissement, reminiscent of the marble at the Louvre Museum. Made in Grasse, France, the worlds capital of perfumes. Exclusively available in the US through Anders.
