Item Description
OUTSTANDING vintage 1940s Mexico Sterling Silver and Amethyst Choker.
This 15 inch stunner is 1 1/2 inches wide with a very secure clasp. Held with chainmaille style silver band the 27 slightly flawed cabochon amethyst stones are set in silver. This unparalleled piece of art is heavy to the touch yet sits gently and evenly on your neck.
Little is known about the choker but fair to say it will adorn your neck with glamour.
In the gemstone world, a cabochon is a stone that is cut with a highly polished, rounded or convex top with no faceting and a flat or slightly domed base. A cabochon may be cut in any shape, though oval is by far the most common. The term comes from the French cabochon, meaning knob or small dome.
