Item Description
Palisades Tumble #1 is an original work of acrylic on canvas, 2015 from artist, Carol Perron Sommerfield.
Carol Perron Sommerfield has lived in Westchester for over 30 years, and yet she has rarely captured the landscape near her home. There are several different reasons for that, and one of them is intimidation.
in 2015 there was an invitation for River Town artists to enter a show that would depict their interpretation of the Hudson River. The invite gave Carol the courage to finally approach the subject. What interested Carol the most was the only thing new on the cliffs of the Palisades in decades - a massive rockslide that shook the River Towns several years before. Carol loved how this long, cream scar boldly announced itself amongst the grey of the cliffs, and she lovingly calls it the tumble.
