Item Description
"Arguably the king of the forest, the Great Horned Owl is impressive to see or hear. I suspect that most folks that have spent a night on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail have some sort of an owl story. This Great Horned Owl is hand carved from white pine. Cut and formed tinplate -- repurposed from a vintage tin -- make the wings, beak and tail. It is mounted on a stand fashioned from sycamore and a vintage croquet ball. 8"w x 4"d x 12 3/4"t Each of my pieces are original and handmade. I've spent over 30 years developing the unique finishes that are applied to this penguin. It looks great, but you'll want to handle it as well." - Geoffrey Davis, NFCT member and school teacher paddled 420 miles from New York to western Maine with funding from a Lilly Teacher Creativity Fellowship.
