The Story Behind the Quilt:
The continual assault humans make on our loving Mother Earth is a source of great consternation and grief for me. The protective boundary of the Earth’s ozone layer was breached many years ago, and we continue to act as if it doesn’t mean a thing. We pollute our air and water without a second thought. Global warming is real and the ocean’s temperature continues to rise. Hawkbill turtles, as well as all other animal and plant species, are being affected and are seriously endangered. My quilt asks the question if extinction for the turtles is inevitable and even more so, are we putting our whole planet into a downward spiral of extinction? I certainly hope that we still have time to make a difference and save our beautiful Earth and all of its inhabitants.
