Item Description
This unframed piece, Sun Up Sundown, consists of hand-cut, embroidered and appliqued 3-layered multi-colored discs on a layered woolen background. It measures 19" X 33". Original and bold, this piece can provide sunshine in your home on even the bleakest day.
Shamelessly dynamic, rhythmic, and methodically crafted, Loring fuses venerated practices and innovative design, manipulating color, shape, and dimension in her appliqued compositions. Loring's design aesthetic is unabashedly bold, kinetic and playful, emerging from bags of scraps abandoned on her porch, or scavenged from flea markets and yard sales. She uses various needles and threads on hand-cut felt pieces. They amplify the visual freshness, enthusiasm and sophisticated naivete, trademarks of her work which graces many homes throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
