Item Description

In 2018, hand-dyed, spun wool yarn was given to each leader of an event I had at the annual Radical Joy for Hard Times event, the Global Earth Exchange. On this day each year, people all over the world go to places they care about that have been damaged or endangered, and they make collaborative, spontaneous art there. That year, I chose to ask all of my ten participants to bring some kind of fiber—fabric, ribbon, yarn to the exchange that had some kind of meaning regarding the Earth. After sharing our stories of how each of our individual places has been changed and how it affected us, we made an altar with all of our fiber items and sent loving energy to the Earth. This quilt is a collage style compilation of each of those meaningful pieces of fiber and the places they represent.
