Item Description

The Uncle Buck by Hobie is a 9’6” signature model for Surfers Healing surf instructor Bucky Barry. When ridden, the Uncle Buck exhibits a commanding presence. Its flat entry rocker makes it a wave catcher. So much so, your wave count becomes gluttonous, like going on a three day bender.

The front third of the hull is a spectacle of delight with its deep linear, blended concave, offering up the thrills of flight, while the pinched 50/50 rails provide unparalleled fusion with the wave face.

Built with classic weight foam, a distinctive T-Band stringer, the Uncle Buck promises lasting devotion.

Hobie Alter paved the way for California surf culture. He opened up Southern California’s first surf shop in Dana Point in 1954 and by 1958, he teamed up with friend Gordon “Grubby” Clark and invented the polyurethane foam surfboard. The new boards were lighter, faster, and easier to ride than anything else in the water. By the mid-1960s, Hobie was setting legendary surf greats like Phil Edwards, Joey Cabell, Joyce Hoffman, Micky Munoz, amongst others. Hobie’s legacy continues to this day and helped ignite U.S. surf culture in Dana Point.
