Item Description
Economical way to measure soil compaction with an analog gauge. Features a 24-inch (60 cm) stainless steel rod with 3-inch (7.6 cm) increments. Soil Compaction meters (often called penetrometers) are used to determine the density of soil and other material. An operator pushes a rod with attached cone into the ground. The resistance of the cone is displayed as it is pushed in the ground. Unseen soil compaction can limit root growth and water and nutrient absorption. This compaction meter enables you to identify compacted areas (in pounds per square inch) so that you can use aerification or other practices to mitigate this situation.
- Measure the impact of different cultural practices of turf compaction
- Quantify safety conditions on sports fields
- Use this technology to maintain consistent playability of your putting greens and other playing surfaces
