Item Description
Artist Scott Hewett's painting depicts a 1929 Pickwick Nite Coach, en route from the Pickwick Hotel terminal in San Diego to its Portland, WA destination, backing into Grauman's Chinese Theater's parking lot for a special matinee showing of 1933's monster adventure film King Kong. A marvel of Dwight Austin's superb engineering prowess, the Pickwick Nite Coaches boasted 13 individual staterooms, a full serivce galley, two restrooms as well as a steward. At 34-1/2 feet long, 8 feet wide and 10 feet tall, it was the largest bus of its time... a true King of the Coast.
