Item Description
When the newest Thoreau stamp was issued by the U.S. Postal Service on May 23, 2017, a dedication ceremony was held at the Walden Pond Visitor Center. This is the program that attendees were given. The card lists the dignitaries who were present and spoke: Leo Roy, Alexis Kirkpatrick, Michael Lawson, Thomas J. Marshall, Matthew A. Beaton, and Ed Begley, Jr. The reverse side of the card carries a brief bio of Henry David Thoreau as well as artistic credits for the stamp. The card fits into the special envelope that looks like a standard first-day-of-issue envelope, complete with actual stamp and Concord postmark. A one-of-a-kind find that you had to "be there" to get.
Item Special Note
Shipping and handling charges will be added to the winning bid. Mailing will be done from the Shop at Walden Pond.
