Item Description
Absolute Beginner Workshop: 6 Weeks of fundamental tap dance instruction. If you have never taken a tap dance class, or have had less than 6 months of classes, this is the class for you. All basic tap skills are introduced to build a solid basic level of technique (shuffles, flaps, cramp rolls, irish, shuffle ball change, etc.) and basic fundamental music skills are introduced as well. Student learn unique combinations using these tap fundamentals, and learn parts of the “Shim Sham”.
The American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF) has become recognized as a local, national and international leader in the field. Since 2001, the ATDF has produced Tap City, the annual New York City Tap Festival. Classes on technique, improvisation and tap dance history are held year-round and daily, as well as seasonal Tap Intensives for Professionals that focus on choreography, composition, music for tap and performance opportunities.
