Item Description

Joshua Tree 4-day stay at a desert home

Located at the end of the road in Yucca Valley, CA, our small and simple home sits on 10 acres of unspoiled desert land, replete with Joshua trees, mountains of rocks, desert wildlife, and endless vistas. Built in 2008, the house has three small bedrooms that can sleep up to eight people comfortably; a working kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, and oven; and a 3/4 bathroom (shower only, no tub). The evaporative cooling system is simple and efficient in summer, and the heater works well in the winter months. There is no TV, no wifi, no phone line — but there’s a speaker you can use to listen to any of your own downloaded music, an eclectic set of albums with a record player, and plenty of books and games to keep you occupied. And of course, you can head right out the door in any direction and hike and climb to your heart’s content. When you want a little action, you can drive 15 minutes to Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, a local honky tonk with great food and live music. Make a reservation, though — it’s popular! Our home is located on the other side of the Joshua Tree highway from the national park, and the environment there is like a mirror image of the park itself. There is always a nice breeze; the property sits at 4,500 feet above sea level, so even in summer, it’s hot but pleasant. It’s very private, quiet, and peaceful. We’re offering a four-night stay for any glampers out there who would like to explore the desert but still enjoy a soft bed, a full kitchen, and a working shower.
