Creating the ZIATA brand gave vintner Karen Cakebread an outlet for all her passions – sourcing fruit, working with growers and customers, and collaborating closely with her winemaker, Jennifer Williams. Despite traveling broadly to promote her brand, ZIATA, Karen's roots are firmly planted in Calistoga, where she tends her Sauvignon Blanc vines at the home ranch with her affable Labrador, Neela, by her side.

Jennifer not only creates world class wines for Karen and the ZIATA brand, she also has her own brand with her husband, Zeitgeist. Jennifer and her husband collaborated on their this project, Zeitgeist Cellars, crafting small batches of Cabernet Sauvignon and heritage white wines -- Chenin Blanc and Trousseau Gris.

This lot offers a pair of Jennifer's wines -- ZIATA Mia Madre and Zeitgeist -- from the 2016 vintage. The vintage was one for the ages – Mother Nature gave the Napa Valley all the ingredients for blockbuster wines. 

The 2016 ZIATA Mia Madre Red Blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec; intensely focused, a seductive mixture of red fruit coupled with hints of blueberry and spice. With a firm-mouth feel, the wine will drink beautifully over the next decade and a half or more.

And the 2016 Zeitgeist Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley captures the warm climate and alluvial soils found in St. Helena, the marine influence of the west-facing foothills of Coombsville, and the well-drained gravelly soils of Sleeping Lady Vineyard in Yountville. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate calls this wine ..."full, rich, concentrated, firm and plush."

Collection of California Sales Tax: Unless a valid resale permit is presented to seller prior to the sale, purchaser will be required to pay all state and local retail sales taxes applicable on the date of sale. Resale permits will be accepted only for businesses that are reasonably expected to buy and sell wine. Sales tax will be collected on the purchase price of each lot which contains tangible goods.

Shipping or Pick up of Wines: Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Non-Napa County winners must arrange for their wines to be shipped from The Packaging Company, beginning Friday, March 6, 2020. If you're the lucky winner, we'll call or email you with directions for making this happen.
