Dyer Vineyards – A Jewel from Diamond Mountain

--One 2002 Dyer Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, 1.5L

World renowned winemakers Dawnine and Bill Dyer bring the rich history and intense flavors of Diamond Mountain Cabernet to life. Their production in the Diamond Mountain District combines their expertise and experience in one wine - Dyer Vineyard, Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, a celebration of California’s storied wine-making history.

Bill and Dawnine’s unique perspective and knowledge of wine derives from decades of winemaking, both in the prestigious Napa Valley and around the world. Together they represent more than 80 years of experience in the wine industry. In 1996, they planted Dyer Vineyard with the goal of bringing focus on the exceptional terroir and extraordinary wines of Napa Valley’s “jewel” on Diamond Mountain.

The Dyer wines are handcrafted following long established, classical methods and less than 300 cases a year are produced. This older library vintage, in magnum, represents a magnificent wine, rich in history and intense in flavor.

Robert Parker said, when re-reviewing the wine in 2012:

“From a tiny 2.3-acre vineyard owned by Dawnine and Bill Dyer, this blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot is a foreboding, austere, Bordeaux-styled 2002 revealing high tannins and a certain leanness to its personality. The color is a healthy dark ruby/purple and the wine is well-made and elegant, with black cherry, licorice, and violets, and hints of sandalwood and cocoa. An elegantly structured wine; with soft balance, firm tannins, and great length."

A perfect expression of the lean, elegant wines that Mountain vineyards can produce, this one is an absolute jewel.
