This collection of magnums celebrates the rich winemaking experience of four Napa winemakers, and the brilliant fruits of their labors. These elegant Cabernet Sauvignons are all balanced, with layers of flavors -- soft, sophisticated, and complex -- the wines reflecting classic structure and tradition.
Each comes from miniscule production, available by highly allocated mailing lists. Each in magnum, they are even more scarce.
Each winery is guided by commitment to family, the wines they craft, the community they live in, and the environment that sustains us all.
Some notes on the wines:
The 2013 Detert Cabernet is beautiful, with lifted aromas of cassis, plum, dark berries and herbs. On the palate, it shows wonderful balance between concentrated richness and lively, fresh flavors. Layers of bittersweet cocoa, plum and berry flavors transition to complex stone, mineral and herb notes.
The 2012 Brookman Cabernet Sauvignon embodies Gary Brookman’s desire to balance power and beauty while preserving the purity of the varietal character. Bold and expressive, this wine introduces itself with classic aromas of dark berry, plum and floral notes. On the palate, it provides a rich mouth feel and alluring layers of dark fruits with hints of mocha, pepper and spice. With well-integrated, ripe and refined tannins, it promises to drink handsomely for more than a decade.
The 2016 Di Costanzo, Farella Vineyard opens with a deep and complex nose, which is full of savory, ripe-plum and wet-earth aromas, and which makes this Cabernet a stand-out. On the palate, the wine is enveloping, radiant, and expressive with energetic tannins, but they’re beautifully crafted and give the wine serious complexity. Elegant.
Boeschen Vineyards' flagship wine from 2016 is a very limited bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon made exclusively from estate-grown fruit. This wine is crafted in an Old-World style, seeking balance and complexity, and blended with the other estate-grown Bordeaux varietals. The wine is aged 18 months in French oak and then one additional year in the bottle.
The 2016 is a classic vintage that may eventually go down as one of Napa's best of this young century. It is deep, dark, intense, and powerful, while still retaining the traditional Boeschen Vineyards balance and silky tannins.
