Item Description
"La citadelle" by Auguste Pégurier (1856-1936). A musician as well as a painter, Pégurier was a pupil in Paris at the Académie Julian and of Carolus Duran. He became known publicly only after his death, and it was a sale of some of his works at auction in 1960 that revealed him to a wider audience. He was the first of the St-Tropez painters.
Oil on canvas. 9" x 13" piece (19" x 14.5" in frame). In Museum Quality Original Gilded Frame. Ready to hang. Signed bottom right.
