Item Description
Nutshells and Mosquito Wings: Selected Essays of Edmund A. Schofield. Edited by Jeffrey S. Cramer. Fulcrum Publishing, 2012. Paperback, 79 pp. Edmund A. Schofield -- botanist, ecologist, educator, editor, writer, and conservationist -- was the former director and president of The Thoreau Society; a founding director and president of the Thoreau Country Conservation Alliance; and president of Walden Forever Wild. His understanding of the relationship between the words of Henry David Thoreau and the land that Thoreau so loved helped define our understanding of the ecology of Walden Woods. The three essays collected here are just part of Ed's legacy. Several tribute pieces by others are included. If you knew Ed, you'll love this little book.
