Item Description
The Tenth Anniversary Christmas plate (diameter 9.5") is "in pale blue Jasper, with finely modelled bas-relief decoration. The subject of the 1969 Christmas plate, Windsor Castle is in the centre - encircled by an embossed commemorative inscription and garland of holly leaves. Forming a deep border design are cameos of the nine landmarks featured on the Christmas plates issued for the years 1970 to 1978, framed by swags of holly.
On the reverse of this unique plate, a deep blue backstamp incorporates the names of the subjects depicted in relief, in order of annual issue: Windsor Castle, Christmas in Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, The Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, Hampton Court, Westminster Abbey, Horse Guards in Whitehall. The plate is produced only during 1978..."
Description adapted from the brochure with the plate.
Item includes the plate in original packaging and box, though it has been opened.
