Item Description
The winner of this auction will receive two tickets to two productions at Silk Road during 2020 (total of four tickets):
My Dear Hussein by Nahal Navidar - World Premiere
March 17–April 19, 2020
Co-produced with Momentary Theatre
Directed by Tlaloc Rivas
A child, a toy dog, and a ruthless dictator walk into a war zone and fanciful imagination breaks free. This surrealistic tale of a four-year-old Iranian girl unfolds amidst the carnage of the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s. The lines between playful fantasy and brutal warfare are gradually blurred as ugly realities become harder to mask.
People of the Book - The Midwest Premiere
September 15–October 25, 2020
Written by Yussef El Guindi
Directed by Michael Malek Najjar
Struggling artist Amir is trying to be supportive, but when an old friend gains national acclaim as a writer and a war hero, Amir finds it all too convenient to be true. Is it his professional jealousy at play or is there something malicious in his friend’s memoir? Yussef El Guindi’s People of the Book explores American narratives of the Middle East conflicts, questioning who the narratives hurt and who they benefit.
