Item Description

MIWAK JUNIOR first began as a rebellious act in a community college ceramics class, where making smoking implements was strictly verboten. Chilean artist Sebastian Boher tried twice to sneak a pipe into the kiln; but on his third try, the pipe went undetected by the censors, proving that he'd created an objet of beauty with a discreet functionality. Partner Alice Johnson Boher agreed, and MIWAK JUNIOR was born.

The MIWAK JUNIOR aesthetic is inspired by Pre-Columbian cultures, Space Age wonder, and the clean minimalism of Japanese design.

Alice and Sebastian live in Echo Park, Los Angeles, where their home studio serves as the creative nucleus of the brand.

----------------
Sierra Lima (a.k.a. "The Lefty") is our tribute to the world's left-handed in ceramic pipe form. With a stoneware clay body, green-black glaze in the bowl and a carburetor on the left side, Sierra Lima elevates the smoking ritual through art and quality. A hollow interior provides a large chamber for smoke, and the exterior is hand-finished for a smooth feel in the palm. The bowl is hand-glazed for a non-porous, easy-to-clean surface.

Our pipes are fired in reduction, in a gas kiln at an extremely high fire temperature. The heat renders our pipes especially sturdy, and the reduction process creates an ever-changing array of finishes which make each piece truly one-of-a-kind. Variations in color, shade, surface texture and size are natural characteristics of all our products and should be expected. Images shown are representative, but may not indicate all variations in these characteristics. Measures approximately 2.5” by 4”. Responsibly made in California. ***Our ceramic pipes are intended for tobacco only. Pipes may require special handling and age-verification ***
