Experience an evening of stimulating and engaging music-making in an intimate setting. Levine’s critically acclaimed Levine Presents series is a set of diverse and thought-provoking concerts organized around a central theme. This year’s theme is “Stories of Transformation & Evolution” 

Levine’s diverse and talented faculty explore narratives of musical transformation and evolution throughout the course of history from the development of the cello, to Bach’s historic meeting with Frederick the Great and the monumental work that evolved from it, to the role of the fiddle tune in the aural traditions of countries and cultures.

Sonny Rollins Over the Bridge
Saturday, April 4, 2020, 7 PM
In 1959, at the peak of his career, Sonny Rollins abruptly took a three year sabbatical to work on his playing. Practicing 15-16 hours a day at the Williamsburg Bridge, he emerged with the album aptly named, "The Bridge," a work in which without much fanfare or ego, Rollins profoundly influenced the entire language of the saxophone.

The Fiddle Tune: A Tale of Migration and Transformation
Saturday, May 9, 2020, 7 PM
The "fiddle tune" is an instrumental piece of music passed down aurally and rooted in folk tradition. Tracing history from its early roots in Europe and the Byzantine Empire, migration to the New World, and integration into North American culture, this concert weaves together these traditions through music and dance.
