Item Description
Have some wine, snag some cheese, and get ready to discuss Lisa Damour's fascinating new book "Underpressure," a must-read for parents. Look forward to a lively discussion with a group of your choice and Rebecca Ginnetti, Congressional School Counselor. Topics covered will include issues faced by adolescent children from worry to sexuality to academics. Though Damour focuses on adolescent daughters, lessons from this book are useful for all parents.
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER. Damour writes in an engaging, anecdotal style with a reassuring tone that has won over thousands of readers. In "Underpressure" Damour starts by addressing the facts about psychological pressure. She explains the surprising and underappreciated value of stress and anxiety: that stress can helpfully stretch us beyond our comfort zones, and anxiety can play a key role in keeping children safe. When we emphasize the benefits of stress and anxiety, we can help our daughters take them in stride.
