Item Description
Medium: Yarn, pom-poms, plastic eyes, metal
Process: Students finger-knit tubes and made pom-poms out of yarn and string. Some put eyes on their creations to make them monsters. All of the knitted creations were assembled into one wall-hanging artwork per class.
Inspiration: In many cultures, knitting has historically been a communal activity, firmly grounded in the everyday life of working people. By engaging students in the very tactile activity of knitting—simply threading yarn around your fingers—we hope to evoke a sense of community in the making.
Coordinators: Akiko Ono, Yuri Hardin, and Sawako Akama
