Item Description
This exquisite piece of art was made by the mother of our beloved Ruth Nohemy Sagche in Guatemala.
This stunning piece features the traditionally vibrant colors of Guatemala, and two Quetzal birds. The resplendent quetzal plays an important role in various types of Mesoamerican mythology - it was sacred to the ancient Maya and Aztec peoples, and royalty and priests wore its feathers during ceremonies. It is the national bird of Guatemala, and its image is found on the country's flag and coat of arms. It also lends its name to the country's currency, the Guatemalan quetzal.
Dimensions: H 50" x W 18"
