Item Description
This rug is hooked with new and recycled strips of wool. It features the boat Hjordis sailing into the harbor at Grand Marais. It measures 14" by 22"
Growing up sewing and embroidering, Mary has always done handwork, but when she discovered rug hooking over twenty-five years ago, she knew she had found her medium. Most of her rugs are influenced by nature—the patterns and landscapes, the flora and fauna. Her rugs have been exhibited in the Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts show, in addition to many other galleries and museums. She has had three, one-woman shows and her rugs have also been featured in several books. In 2017 she did a month-long residency at the Textilsetur in Iceland, resulting in a show of her work. Mary currently teaches rug-hooking at the Textile Center in Minneapolis. She is also a writer and has published adult mystery novels, several non-fiction books, poetry books, and many children’s books. She also writes articles for Rug Hooking magazine.
