Christine Novotny is a handweaver with a love of color, pattern, and design. Guided by her background in painting and drawing, Christine began weaving to create tactile work that can be worn, folded, touched, and stepped on. Christine has a particular love for surprising optical color interactions created by the intersection of warp and weft. She firmly believes in the power of attention and slowing down, two fundamental skills in creating woven work.
Christine is a Artisan in Residence in North House's Artisan Development Program where she focuses on her weaving practice.
