Artist statement:
This is Jiya, one of 2 leopard cubs found in field in Maharashtra, India. She and her sister Jaya, were rescued by Wildlife SOS; several attempts to find and reunite them with their mother were unsuccessful. They now live at the Wildlife SOS Leopard Rescue Center in Maharashtra. Orphaned leopards cannot be released back into the wild when they're older because they have not had a mother to teach them how to fend for themselves. Jiya is the naughty boisterous one, and enjoys startling her sister, Jaya, by growling into her ear when she's fast asleep.
