Item Description
You and a guest of your choosing can experience the Joy of Jewish Dance. Jump right in to this weekly dance class that begins by exploring the deeper healing meanings behind the Hebrew letters using creative movement midrash (improvisation). Students then learn the ancient gestures and moves found in Jewish dance forms from all over the world, including Israeli folk dance, traditional women’s and men’s Yemenite dance, and the soulful ecstatic dances of the Hassidim.
Each class is a musical journey that lifts the spirit, opens the heart, and allows students to dance to the diverse rhythms of world Jewish music.
This unique class is taught by Bruce Bierman, a Jewish dance master, educator, and theater director. He is also a LABA East Bay fellow!
Item Special Note
For ages 12 to 112. All bodies and backgrounds welcome!
Winner will receive a pass for a single class, good for two people.
Class takes place at Chochmat Halev in Berkeley on Thursdays, 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Until SIP/social distancing restrictions are lifted, class is offered virtually via Zoom.
