Tempera paint bubble wrap prints on cotton paper
Most of our art and science projects with the 2-Day Junipers are experiential and completely process-oriented - the Junipers love to mix all the colors, pour everything out, feel things with their fingers, watch the materials blend. We began this project by offering the kids finger paint and bubble wrap, and encouraging them to explore!
The children squished the paint around on top of the bubbles, feeling the slippery, bumpy texture and watching the colors come together. Some kids didn’t want to get their fingers messy, so they used paint brushes and experienced how the colors looked on their clear bubble wrap, and what it feels to paint on something bumpy. This exploratory stage lasted a few weeks.
Then one day, we showed them how they could flip their painted bubble wrap over and press it on a new sheet of paper, and then peel off the bubble wrap…..it was like magic! We saw children beginning to pay attention to their product - to what their painting looked like after they had done this step. So many kids came over to try bubble prints and there was a lot of excitement about these tiny perfect circles all over their paper! We decided to make some large ones for our auction project, and we hope you like them!
