Vintage/Antique "Butter Press" from Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Antique primitive wood butter mold with pattern.
These primitive antique wood butter molds were the basic workhorses of the buttery, used to press butter into one pound blocks. This plunger type rectangular mold was made entirely from wood held together on all corners by nails.
The butter was pressed into the box then chilled. The plunger was used to push the butter out of the mold. A great old butter mold for your farmhouse or primitive decor.
