Gayle created this piece in the early 1960's. She used it as a way to put herself through school, receiving an art scholarship for her work. She lived in Guatalahara, Mexico growing up and was inspired to recreate The Nunery at Chichenitza. This is an old mayan ruin on Mexico's Yucatan.
