Tasting Notes - Mother of Invention

Styled after its cousins from the Rhone Valley, Mother of Invention is Kivelstadt's bistro white blend. An 80/20 split of Roussanne and Marsanne farmed organically on Bonfiglio Vineyard along the banks of the Russian River, Mother of Invention is fermented in neutral French oak barrels, sur-lie aged for 6 months, and undergoes malolactic fermentation naturally before going to bottle. Lean yet still medium bodied, this wine will surely be a favorite at your table just as it is at ours.

Tasting Notes - Father's Watch

Our most versatile red wine, Father's Watch is a Rhone style blend made from 32% Carignane, 27% Grenache, 22% Syrah, and 19% Mourvedre. The Carignane and Grenache bring high tone fruit, approachability and energy to balance out the earthier Syrah and Mourvedre in the blend. The wine sees 10% new french oak for 16 months and is our bistro style red wine - pairs with a wide array of cuisine.

About Kivelstadt Cellars

Kivelstadt Cellars was founded for love of amazing California vineyards. After leaving a career in consulting in his early twenties, Jordan Kivelstadt traveled the world making wine in California, Australia, Chile, and Argentina. In 2007, Jordan made 125 cases of Estate Syrah. He drew inspiration both from his winemaking experiences in the new world and his family’s passion for European cuisine, art, and wine culture. Hence their focus became exploring the product of incredible California vineyards, with a nod toward the rich history and balance of the old world wines that came before them. Since the inaugural 2007 vintage, their production has grown to 5,000 cases annually. Kivelstadt strives to create wines of intrigue that maintain a fun and approachable style and challenge the status quo of conventional California wines.
