Item Description
a. 2005 Domaine Charvin, Wine Advocate rating of 95, with these notes: “Laurent’s 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape continues to show brilliantly. Made from the standard estate blend of 85% Grenache and then 5% each of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Vaccarese, aged all in concrete tank, it offers up a thrilling bouquet of kirsch and darker berry-styled fruits, flowers, licorice and pepper. Gorgeous on all accounts, with full-bodied richness, beautiful purity and laser focus and precision on the palate, drink this rock-star Châteauneuf anytime over the coming 10-15 years.”
b. 2007 Domaine du Grand Tinel Alexis Establet. Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) rating (2015) of 94, with these notes:“..” I loved the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Alexis Establet, and this 100% old vine Grenache beauty gives up classic notes of roasted herbs, black licorice, loads of sweet Grenache fruit and that savory, meaty characteristic reminiscent of caramelized pan drippings. Full-bodied, layered and decadent, with sweet tannin and no hard edges, it’s beautiful today but will keep for another decade or more.”
c. 2012 Le Clos du Caillou Les Quartz, Wine Advocate rating of 94, with these notes: “The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape les Quartz is one of the more powerful, structured 2012s and exhibits wonderful black raspberry, creamy licorice, smoked earth and crushed rock/liquid minerality. Medium to full-bodied and classically styled on the palate, with a broad, expansive feel, it has sweet fruit, plenty of tannin and beautiful length. Give it another year or two and drink bottles through 2027.”
