ACORN'S small production wines are unique expressions of the character and diversity of historic Alegría Vineyards in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Alegría means happiness and joy in Spanish. It will make you happy to discover and enjoy ACORN's field-blend wines from their certified sustainable vineyards.
Along with one bottle each of ACORN Winery's critically acclaimed limited production 2106 Cabernet Franc and Dolcetto, signed by Vigneron Bill Nachbauer, you'll enjoy a visit for four adults to ACORN Winery and their sustainably farmed Alegria Vineyards in the Russian River Valley. First, you and and your guests will enjoy a walking tour through the vineyard with Bill where you'll discover what makes ACORN's historic field blend vineyard unique. Following your vineyard tour, you will sit down to an informative and private tasting of ACORN wines with Betsy Nachbauer.
To taste grapes on the vine, Bill and Betsy recommend visiting late August through October.
Tasting Notes - 2016 Cabernet Franc Alegría Vineyards
** 92 points - Purely Domestic Wine Report ** Intriguing aromas of cherry and red currant are rounded out by hints of forest floor, a classic note in Cabernet Franc. Rich favors of bright cherry, pomegranate, and Santa Rosa plum finish with chocolate mousse. Pairing options are easy with this versatile wine. Consider herbed-roasted pork and crisp roasted brussel sprouts or a leek and mushroom tart.
Tasting Notes - 2016 Dolcetto Alegría Vineyards
** 93 points - Purely Domestic Wine Report ** Savory aromas of dusty cherry and creamy mocha. Bright cherry and ripe huckleberry flavors meld with toasty oak and a hint of cola. Integrated oak frames the Italianate flavors as the crisp acidity encourages pairing with food to further enhance the tasting experience. Pairs well with most Mediterranean and Italian foods, and is a wonderful match to seared duck or an eggplant, tomato, and smoked mozzarella tart.
