About the Artist
Mike Shea, Community Artist
Mike is the father, of Carly Shea, one of Schurig Center’s clients.
Mike never touched a paint brush until five years ago. He knew he wanted to try his hand at painting after he retired, and the first course available at College of Marin was a watercolor class with Marty Meade at College of Marin. It stuck, and he has been painting watercolors ever since. As he has progressed he has developed a special talent for impressionistic landscapes as displayed here.
Mike regularly donates his work to Grateful Gatherings, a non-profit that furnishes households for families transitioning from homelessness.
Mike continues to take classes from Marty and others at College of Marin. He is a member of the California Watercolor Society.
