Item Description
This is a Southern Pacific railroad touring book titled "The Shasta Route - Along the Southern Pacific - The Road of a Thousand Wonders". "A Scenic Guide Book from San Francisco, California, to Portland, Oregon - On the road of a Thousand Wonders".
This edition clearly states in bold on the opening page that it was "For sale only en route on the trains on the Shasta Route" and is an Exclisive Edition.
There is no printed copyright on the book but it is estimated to be copyrighted 1915 commensurate with other such publications.
This illustrated booklet is a fabulous antique reference for travel all long the Southern Pacific. It includes colored reproductions from photographs illustrating the principle points of interest along the Southern Pacific Railroad from San Francisco, California to Portland, Oregon along with an explanation of the views illustrated. Each page has a color image mounted on it of views that could be seen along the Shasta railroad route between San Francisco and Portland.
This 24 page (with map) soft cover guide is a great travel or coffee table book for the collection of any train enthusiast or collector.

CONDITION - Good - light wear is commensurate with age of booklet.
The book has no rips or tears. The string/chord binding is in good condition though the tied bow is frayed. The photographs are all in good condition. Two photos have a visible crease in lower left corner - Mt Hood from Lost Lake, and Ferry Boat "Contra Costa" - otherwise, these photos are also in good shape. The centerfold double page photo of "Panorama of Mount Shasta and Black Butte" is intact and in good condition.
