Item Description

Deborah Sigel, local Vermonter, original Handmade Tallit

Choose from 2 options of a modern art tallit (tallis). The blue one is an abstract scene of the ocean below with emerging silver and white bubbles, and black tendrils of sea grass.

The tallit is 30" x 55", made from a lightweight synthetic sheer light blue fabric. The design is hand painted with a brush using Pebeo Setacolor paint, which is permanent and washable. The design features black tendrils reaching up from the bottom of the sea, followed by bubbles, which change in size and color from silver to an iridescent white to a matte white. The attarah (colar) and corners are decorated with a soft white satin, which is painted with scenes of ripples on the bottom, and sea gulls and waves on the top. The wool tzitzit (corner fringes) are properly tied in the standard knot pattern.

The tallit is made entirely of synthetic fabrics, and is safe to wash by hand in cold water under 80F. Iron is fine at temperatures for synthetics.

The second option is maroon.

The tallit is 33" x 54", with a base synthetic maroon fabric with a reflective sheen. The attarah (colar) and corners are decorated with semi-reflective metallic gold fabric. The curvy vines are painted by hand with a brush and Pebeo Setacolor fabric paint, which is permanent to cold water hand washing. The wool tzitzit (corner fringes) are properly tied in the standard knot pattern.

The tallit is made entirely of synthetic fabrics, and is safe to wash by hand in cold water below 80 F. Iron set to synthetic fabric temperatures.

Sizing:
I tend to design my tallit so that the arm length of the user (and coincidentally their height) is roughly the length (long direction) of the tallit. This tallit should be fine for someone 4'10"-5'4". I am 5'1" and the corners of the tallit fit comfortably in my hands. Your size preferences will differ. As for drape, I am 5"1", and this tallit falls to roughly 3 inches below my back.
