Item Description
Softball leagues grew in popularity across the country with the standardization of rules in 1934. The Hayward area had its own teams, too. Here were two women’s softball teams, one sponsored by local clothing story Mel & Rudy’s and the City Hall Slickers. The gals are posing together following a game on September 6, 1946, the final game of the summer series. Mel & Rudy’s finished the season in second in the local softball league standings.
