Item Description
In the 1940s and 1950s, as today, a great way to keep boys active and out of trouble in their free time was by joining a local Cub Scout troop. This is possibly the Ashland Cub Scouts annual picnic at Redwood Regional Park in August 1948. All members of the pack, their parents, and friends were invited to attend. Activities for the daylong event included sack races, a softball game, and, of course, a watermelon eating contest.
