Item Description
Art from Mexican artist Pedro Friedeberg. In 2001 I received the following letter: Letter in lovely architect’s hand-written script: “Dear Mr. Ferre, With great interest I have been reading Hermann Kern’s delightful book ‘Through the Labyrinth’ that believe you edited. I am an architect, painter, designer. I send you herewith a copy of my silk-screen print “Labyrinths” that I produced in 1984 -- Please accept this as a gift to the worthy cause of labyrinths. Also enclosed is a reproduction of a drawing I showed at an exhibition in the Berlin Academy of Arts featuring labyrinths in 1966. And a picture of my teacher’s (Mathias Goeritz) labyrinth designed in Jerusalem in 1974. As you can see I am fascinated by labyrinths in all their shapes and forms and hope you can send me some information on the St. Louis Labyrinth Project which sounds very interesting to me. With kindest regards, Sincerely, Pedro F.” Look at those dates! He was working with labyrinths long before the current revival in the United States.
