Item Description

If there's a child in your life between 2-5 years old, you won't want to miss this delightful, whimsical children's book, written by Colin Eldred-Cohen and illustrated by Amber de Joya.

What are readers saying about The Fire Truck Who Got Lost?

"This was an adorable children's book. I loved it! It's a story about being little and trying to help out, and about keeping an eye out for your loved ones. Barnabus used his skills to get help, and even though he was too little to do a lot, he got the job done!"

"This sweet story and its glorious illustrations will delight every little boy and girl who loves firetrucks--and who occasionally frets about getting lost or separated from their parent or caregiver. Barnabas is clever and resourceful.... I can't wait to share it with my nephews and nieces. They will love it."

"I have been trying for two years to get my granddaughter to take an interest in books and reading. I have never been able to get more than two or three pages into a book and away she would go, having totally lost interest, but yesterday was totally different. She saw this book with the little fire truck on my shelf, brought it to me and asked if we could read it. She sat on my lap, while I read the story to her, carefully turning every page, listening intently, and asking questions."

"My two year old loves to root for Barnabus to make it home safe! We've spent hours celebrating the adventures of Wheeley, Dan, and Agua - his favorite little fire trucks! Great Read - Your kids will love it!"

In "I'm an Autistic Author. This is the Story behind My First Book." appearing in The Mighty (https://themighty.com/2017/03/the-fire-truck-who-got-lost-autism-story/), Eldred-Cohen describes his experience writing The Fire Truck Who Got Lost:

"What started as a dream became something that people could actually buy and share with their loved ones. Even more surprising, they liked it! I heard from friends, family, and Amazon reviews about how much parents and children enjoyed and connected with the book. This was not just my parents telling me I was talented because they were my parents; it was actual confirmation from the world that I had done something good....

Even today, the reality of it all is still barely catching up to me. It is still hard to believe the same kid who spent summer after summer unable to get a job is now a published author whose works actually touched people. I can not thank everyone enough for helping make this dream a reality, and I hope I never stop writing. I am not just an autistic kid, like I thought I was, anymore; I have climbed a freaking mountain. To all the creatives out there, on the spectrum or not, keep pushing forward. The climb to make the most of your talent is a hard one, but it is worth it, especially when you do not get there alone."
