Item Description

This set of Pancha Buddha brass statuette from Great Eastern Sun Store, perfect for a travel altar are hand cast, ornately detailed solid brass with a silver tone and a dark patina.

The Five Pancha Buddha (Dhyani Buddhas) are the representatives of the five different qualities of the Buddha. Pancha Buddhas are also known as Five Wisdom Tathagatas and are widely revered in Vajrayana Buddhism, and are a common subject of Vajrayana mandalas. There is an expansive number of associations with each aspect of the mandala, so that the mandala becomes a cipher and mnemonic visual thinking instrument and concept map; a vehicle for understanding and decoding the whole of the Dharma. Some of the associations include: the elements, primary colors, seasons of the year, the cardinal directions, and wisdom qualities (of which the flip sides are the neurotic (confused) aspects). Thus, they become a vehicle for transforming confusion into wisdom.

The Pancha Buddhas are Vairochana, Akshobhaya, Amitabha, Ratnasambhava, Amoghasiddhi.

Great Eastern Sun Store owner Jamie Reinhardt has been a meditation practitioner since 1993, and a yoga practitioner since 1997. He's been designing, making, and selling products for meditation and yoga practice since 2004.
