Item Description
Support the Emergency Assistance Fund with EFNE.
Living with epilepsy can be costly and can include medicine and care co-pays, transportation costs, medical devices, hospital bills, ambulances, and time missed from work due to a seizure. Our Emergency Assistance program provides small grants to help families in financial need. Two weeks ago, we received a call from a hospital social worker. Her patient had run out of meds. She was at the pharmacy at 4PM with no way to pay the co-pay. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to pay the $55 co-pay and the 34-year-old mom of two was able to go home with her meds. This summer, we helped Megan’s family. Megan is 12 and has intractable seizures that limit her ability to walk, talk, or do any daily living tasks on her own. She is wheelchair-bound. When she reached 80 pounds, her parents began to struggle to pick her up and carry her up the stair into her house. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we helped install a wheelchair ramp.
