Give Hope and inspire a family affected by epilepsy in our community.
When a family hears “epilepsy” for the first time, the news can be hard to hear. Families can experience denial, grief, anger, and more. EFNE is here to help through new Epilepsy Resource Rooms in hospitals throughout New England, through multiple support groups per week including those that bring parents together, via education programs for families and those for schools, and through programs that build community, like our weeklong Halloween celebration. With your help, EFNE supports and educates people from young children to older adults. Here’s what 48-year-old Lynn said, “When the doctor said ‘epilepsy,’ I thought there must be some sort of mistake. Tim is a healthy 9-year-old boy who occasionally works too hard at sports and gets light headed – maybe passes out. I was strong for my son, but I went home and took an hour-long shower so I could cry. After a weekend of self-misery, I called EFNE. The community and support and information I received were incredible. I’ve built new friendships and learn so much from other parents. Tim has a network of kids with epilepsy so he always knows where to find community and support if things get hard at school.”
